What you’re seeing in this video is something new where you can view streaming video by chapter. The one problem with streaming video as a learning tool has been that you would have to start from the beginning each time and then use the slider to find the place where you left off.
Totally inconvenient, totally a pain.
You can imagine how excited we were when we figured out that (with a little extra work) you can create a playlist of videos and so here if you look below the video control area you’ll see the different chapters. To navigate to any one chapter you can either click on it in the play list or you can use the forward and back buttons on the control bar to jump between chapters.
So you’re actually have the entire Belly Dance Basics DVD in streaming format with chapter designations. Each chapter in the play list corresponds to a video lesson that you received since signing up for the free Beginning Belly Dance course.
Beginning Egyptian Cabaret Belly Dance Video 2, Hip Circles: In the first video you learned the correct body posture and positioning for Egyptian Cabaret style Belly Dancing and how to move you hips from side to side in what is called your hip thrust or bump. I want to also just mention how important it is to keep your knees bent and your feet flat which is something that carries forward to this video on Hip Circles.
When doing your Hip Circles you want to extend and at the same time keep those knees bent. You also want to make sure that you keep your hips isolated from the rest of your body as you’re doing your circles because Belly Dancing is an isolated form of dance.
So with these two videos you’ve learned how to posture and position your body, hip thrusts and now hip circles. When you practice your hip circles, after you get them down a bit and feel comfortable, practice what you learned in the first video which you can watch again by clicking this link. This will help build up your strength and muscle memory and get you ready for the 3rd video coming in a couple of days.
See you on the next video
PS: Let me know what you think about this video or if you have any questions and don’t worry these pages are not visible to the general public so any comment you leave will be only be seen by me and other dancers taking this course, not the general viewing public.
Beginning Egyptian Cabaret Belly Dance Video 6: Putting it All Together Now
First, let me say wow! You made it to video 6 and believe it or not there are a lot of women that never get this far, so you being here now has kind of put you in an elite group of people and I have a lot of respect for you because of it. So lets go ahead and get started.
In video number 6 we finally get to put a lot of what you’ve learned up to to this point together. Putting together different moves together and layering your movement is what gives your dance that nice isolated look that is sensual and very pleasing to the eye.
Egyptian Cabaret Beginning Video, Singles, Doubles, Circles and Now Chest
The Chest Circle is a movement that comes from the rib cage area and is directed by the upper ab. The hip circle is controlled by the quad, lower pelvic area and the glute muscles. Both are similar but lead by very different muscle groups. It is important to understand the different muscle groups while you are doing specific movements.
Also in this video, you will start to understand the basic fundamentals of layering in movement from upper body to lower. This way when you dance in front of an audience you will not only be able to pull out movements on command but you will know the areas in your body where the movements come from.
Until the next video. don’t forget to practice, your correct posture and to come back to center.
